African Recycled Glass Beads & Discs

A completely stunning range of glass beads from the shores of Ghana

The beads in this section are all individually crafted by a co-operative of families in Ghana. Used glass is cleaned and ground down to create a powder. The glass is then heated in mud kilns and as they cool, the hole is created with a bradle. The different colours are made from blending the different powder glass together. The beads have the texture of sea-glass and have a beautifully tactile quality. Although they may look slightly rough and ready but this is the quality and charm of these amazing fair trade beads.
